Jill Zarin Moves After Husband’s Death
There's just too many memories
Bobby Zarin was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June 2009. He did radioactive iodine treatment and had his thyroid removed upon finding out about the disease. Unfortunately, Bobby’s body was unable to absorb the iodine that would have killed cancer cells remaining in his bloodstream.
By 2013, the cancer had metastasized in his lungs, and he had a tumor in his brain. The TV star underwent Gamma Knife Radiosurgery — as well as a few other brand-new treatments — at MD Anderson in an attempt to eradicate the cancer for good.
The 71-year-old reality star was recovering from these major surgeries in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City in July 2017 when his condition took a turn for the worse. He had to go back to the hospital for some weeks.
“I’m in shock. I’m in physical shock. He was doing well for a very, very long time. Then the cancer came back in his brain last fall and since then, it’s been one thing after another,” Jill told People at the time.
Bobby was in and out of the hospital for months, but Jill learned to enjoy her time with him since his future was uncertain. “I am most grateful to God who continues to give Bobby and me more time together. When Bobby always said to me ‘cherish the moment’ I never knew the power of that message until now,” she wrote on her Instagram during her 54th birthday last November.
Jill and Bobby celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on Jan. 4, and Bobby succumbed to cancer on Jan. 13.
After sitting shiva for Bobby for a week after his death, Jill spent some time at her home in Boca Raton, FL. After some time passed, Jill jetted off to London to spend time with her daughter, and then she visited Africa with some friends including Ramona Singer.
Jill seems to be having a great time in Morroco at the moment. It’s the very place where Romona and Jill filmed one of their last scenes for RHONY, but things seem to be much better between the on-again, off-again friends now.
However, things may be different when she gets back to the USA and reality sets in. According to someone close to her, she may not be staying in New York for long.
A source revealed that New York holds too many memories for Jill, and she may move to Boca Raton, FL permanently. “Living in New York will just be too painful without Bobby. She has a lot of friends in Boca, and thinks it would be a good fresh start,” they told Radar Online. Jill has not commented on what she plans to do now that she’s a single woman.
