Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Reveal Baby No. 3’s Name
What’s in a Name
She’s ready for her big debut!
The baby’s name is Chicago West, according to a post shared on Kim’s app.
Kim simply listed the name on a blog entry this Friday, Jan. 19, along with the baby’s reported birthday and weight. Though she didn’t reveal the meaning behind the moniker, many fans believed it to be a nod to Kanye’s hometown.
As Celebuzz! previously reported, Kim welcomed her third child with Kanye, 40, via surrogate on Jan 15. According to a birth announcement released on her app, the baby was born at 12:47 a.m. PT and weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz.
“Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl,” the mom-of-three shared. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”
The 37-year-old reality star added the little one’s older siblings “are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”
A Bigger Brood
Last year, Kim confirmed the baby news during a phone call with pregnant sister Khloé Kardashian on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She later revealed she was having another girl while appearing on Ellen.
According to the KKW Beauty founder, she opted to use a surrogate this time around after dealing with placenta accreta — a condition in which the placenta grows into the wall of the womb, preventing it from easily detaching at the time of birth — during her previous pregnancies. As documented on her show, she underwent a surgery to prepare her uterus in case she wanted to try to conceive again. However, the procedure proved to be unsuccessful after having her second child.
“I always knew surrogacy was an option — now it’s my reality,” she said at the time. “Whatever is meant to be will be.”
