Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Hire a Surrogate for Their Third Baby
And she's got some rules to follow...
Kim Kardashian suffered placenta accreta — a condition in which the placenta grows into the wall of the womb and prevents it from easily detaching at the time of birth — when she was pregnant with son Saint West. As a result, a third pregnancy for the reality star could jeopardize her life.
As seen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, doctors warned her about the health risks involved in getting pregnant for the third time. Adamant on having another kid, Kim started looking into surrogates — including sister Khloé Kardashian — to carry her third child with Kanye West.
Kim previously recalled experiencing difficulties in giving birth as early as her pregnancy with first child, North West, on her app.
“My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. How disgusting and painful!!!” she remembered. “My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before. My delivery was fairly easy, but then going through that—it was the most painful experience of my life! They gave me a second epidural but we were racing against time, so I just had to deal.”
After suffering more complications while giving birth to son Saint, Kim underwent a surgery to prepare her uterus for a third pregnancy. However, the procedure was unsuccessful.
Kim and Kanye hired a surrogate to carry their third child to term, according to People. The couple reportedly went through an agency to find the woman, whose identity has yet to be revealed.
Like with almost all surrogates, the woman will be financially compensated for her time. In true Kardashian fashion, the surrogate’s paycheck is, well, massive.
