Meet "America's New First Lady"!
Eat your heart out Melania Trump! Though Kanye West has yet to follow up on his promise to run for office, Kim Kardashian already looks the part of a president’s wife; she’s been dubbed “America’s New First Lady” in her new profile with Interview magazine. Starring in yet another mother-daughter magazine shoot, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star channels Jackie Kennedy in the iconic figure’s signature bouffant hairstyle and pearls as she poses alongside her daughter North West.rn
Like Mother, Like Daughter
Kim Kardashian and North West are the picture perfect mother-daughter duo. Three years since gracing the pages of Vogue, the pair are at it again as they pose alongside each other in a Kennedys-inspired spread for Interview magazine. Shot by famous photographer Steven Klein at New york City’s The National Arts Club, the photos look almost like a page torn out of a history book as the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star channels Jackie Kennedy in the former First Lady’s signature bouffant hairstyle and pearls.
Meanwhile, 4-year-old North matches her mom in white gloves and a black dress.
Bringing Up Baby
In the accompanying article, Kim opens up about trying to raise her daughter in a “normal” environment. Despite having a camera crew at her house almost 24/7, the reality TV mom insists on bringing up her daughter and son, Saint West, in a way that doesn’t affect their childhood.
“We share so much all the time on the show. I obviously get a little bit more protective of my daughter because that’s always been such a struggle: ‘Do we have her on the show? Don’t we?'” Kim tells interviewer and trans rights activist Janet Mock. “We have strict rules about the kids. Some seasons they’re not on at all. Some seasons they’re on a little bit, just to show a bit of personality, although there are never storylines about them. But then there’s social media, on which I’ve always been really open. When I’m out and people call North’s name, that’s when it’s weird for me. She lives such a normal life, believe it or not, at home.”
The New Normal
“On a typical day, without cameras, I wake up early, like six in the morning. I try to work out before the kids get up, and then I have breakfast with them and my husband. I try to make sure we have set meals at home, to keep everything as normal as possible. And then I get to work,” the mom-of-two shares. “I’ll usually have wardrobe fittings for myself. Then I might have—and I’m not joking—300 makeup products to go through and consider for a future project. In between, I’m taking my son to a music class and my daughter to a horseback riding class.”
