Kylie Jenner Scrambles to Create More Drama as Fans Complain Her New Show Is “Boring”
You’d think people would be interested in watching a show all about Kylie Jenner, but you’d be wrong. Despite being Snapchat’s most followed celebrity to date, the 20-year-old reality star isn’t winning fans over with her new Keeping Up with the Kardashians spin-off, Life of Kylie. Her show — which, according to the press release, focuses on “her unique life as an entrepreneur, fashion designer, author, television star, style icon and CEO/Founder of Kylie Cosmetics” — have received less-than-stellar reviews from fans and critics since its premiere last week.
“The Fakest Reality Show Ever”
The reviews have not been kind to Life of Kylie. As fans dismiss the series as “unrelatable” for its first world problems, television critics say the show makes the young reality star look out of touch as a spoiled, rich brat from Calabasas.
“Kylie can come off as intentionally sheltered from the real world and shallow,” Business Insider writes. “It really makes Kylie look shallow.”
“It’s amazing how much whining Jenner does,” CNN rips, adding Kylie in particularly combines “self-pity with a lack of self-awareness.” Meanwhile, Complex calls the docu-series “the fakest reality show ever.”
“She’s so rich she can’t even invent a convincing obstacle to surmount on her reality TV show,” The Daily Beast laments. “When Jenner and her gang get devastating news that the private jet they’re supposed to take to Sacramento has broken down, they just call and ask for a different private jet.”
According to some, the family is now panicking over the lackluster reception as producers scramble to find ways to make the series more exciting.
Compared to previous drama-filled spin-offs like Rob & Chyna, I Am Cait, and Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Kylie’s show is said to be a total snoozefest. Given the lack of interest, many believe the network will start finding ways to create drama to capture ratings, including inviting Kim Kardashian onto the show.
‘The show was a disaster — no-one liked it,” an insider tells The Sun. “The whole family is panicking and the rest of the series is now being re-cut to make it more exciting.”
“The ending of the second episode needed more ‘bang’ – like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, you need something that viewers want to come back for,” the source explains. “Everyone’s worried that Kylie’s life isn’t exciting enough for viewers who want drama and fighting. They want to include more footage of her sister, Kim, as they think people will tune in to watch then.”
