Longest Snapchat Ever
Major disappointment has arisen over the new E! series. Life of Kylie aims to display a side of the youngest Jenner that we’ve never seen before. Which, in concept, seems ridiculous as cameras have been following Kylie around since she was nine years old. “In order to stay relevant for the public, I have to be on Instagram and I have to be on Snapchat just keeping people entertained. And then there is who I really am around my friends,” she says on the show. Yet, three episodes in and we are seeing the same thing we see every day on social media. Kylie, her squad, selfies and lip kits.
You’ll never get the time back!
The show is nothing more than a 21-minute-long Snapchat with commercial interruptions. Geared to make it appear as if Kylie is just like everyone else, it does the exact opposite. Kylie truly thinks the only thing that makes her different than anyone else is that she can afford nice things. She even goes on to say that material things aren’t where she finds her true happiness.
In the two-part series premiere, we watched as Kylie complains that she didn’t have a normal child hood. She never got to go to her prom because she was always working. She never got to go to a normal school and was home schooled due to her insane schedule.
So, what does the show do? Send her to crash a fan’s prom, of course, because that is “normal” behavior. A fan’s mother reaches out to Jordyn and Kylie regarding her son, telling how happy he would be to go to prom with Kylie. All the while it seemed the mom was fanning out more than her son.
Anyway, Kylie surprises Albert as his prom date (along with Jordyn, hairstylist Tokyo Stylez, makeup artist Ariel Tejada and assistant Victoria Gamero). Obviously turning Albert’s prom into a chaotic frenzy full of cameras and mayhem. They all had to be secluded onto the balcony to avoid the mob of high schoolers at their prom. Guess no one predicted THAT would happen.
She even goes as far as to film a “heartfelt” scene with her BFF, where she says she doesn’t think the fame will last long. She complains that she wishes she could wear a hoodie, her Heelys and sweats every day. (Technically, she can, but that would mean no more spotlight.)
She goes on to explain that the only reason she keeps it up is for Kylie Cosmetics. She confides, “This fame thing is gonna come to an end sooner than you think. I’m getting the bug again. I just want to run away.”
See for yourself
So far, reviews are saying the show doesn’t reach any level of authenticity. Asking for authenticity from the Kardashian/Jenner clan is like asking a shadow to show light. It just won’t happen. The show that promised viewers a deeper glimpse into Kylie’s life and the struggles of fame does anything but that.
We could go on to say what else is wrong with the show, but we just don’t have the time. Plus, you would be reading for days! Instead, enjoy this quick snippet from the third episode of Life of Kylie, so you can judge for yourself.
