She may not be doing very well with sobriety though
Real Housewives of New York star Luann de Lesseps may still be facing very serious charges that could put her behind bars for the next few years, but she’s excited about living the rest of her life as a law-abiding, sober citizen in the near future. According to those who see her every day, she’s trying to find new sober friends who can show her how to have a good time without the use of intoxicants.
While there is no shortage of people who want to work for the Countess, she’s turning out to be a handful even without alcohol.
One Bad Night
As Celebuzz! previously reported, Luann de Lesseps successfully completed a voluntary alcohol rehab program on Jan. 23. The star wanted to turn her arrest into a positive change for her life. She explained that the drunken romp was “out of character.”
“This was my first time in Palm Beach since my wedding, and being here brought up long-buried emotions,” she told People in a statement. “I am committed to a transformative and hopeful 2018.”
The former Countess was facing a possibility of up to four felony charges, but she was only charged with the felony of resisting an officer along with two misdemeanors (trespassing and disorderly intoxication) at the Jan. 25 hearing. Luann entered a plea of not guilty and demanded a jury trial.
Luann’s case will go to trial within the next few months. She could face up to five years in prison for the felony charge alone.
It’s likely that Luann will receive plea deal offers before her case goes to trial, and she may choose to take one. Otherwise, she will face a judge and jury who will decide her fate.
Changing Things Around
The story of Luann’s arrest, legal proceedings, and upcoming punishment a likely to be a major story on the next season of Real Housewives of New York. A source told People that “there’s no way” the show’s producers will shy away from showing what’s going on with her court battles in the upcoming season.
“It’s reality. They follow their real lives. So if this is happening while filming is happening, they’re going to talk about it,” the source said. “They didn’t shy away from Tinsley’s arrest. They didn’t shy away from Bethenny’s court drama.”
Whatever happens with Luann’s case, she’s so committed to living a sober lifestyle that she’s hired a team of people to keep her out of trouble.
A source very close to Luann shared that she’s currently hiring sober people to keep her on track. “Luann seems to have learned her lesson and wants to be sober now. She is telling all applicants in the first interview that drinking and substance abuse of any kind will not be tolerated, especially when on the clock,” the source told Radar Online. “She also said that she would love a gay man who has a clean record.”
Unfortunately, the search may not be going that well. It’s not that Luann can’t find applicants, its’ that her own behavior is intolerable. “She was just ridiculous. For example, she would have her other assistant contact me to let me know that Luann would be calling us shortly. But she would never call,” complained someone who tried to work for her.
Luann hasn’t posted any public information about her search for sober employees, but she did post a motivational message on her Instagram that read: “If ‘Plan A’ didn’t work, the alphabet has 25 more letters! Stay cool.”
She implied that she’s going to try Plan B, but it’s unclear what that entails. She also posted a picture of herself doing yoga and a video of her dog playing in the snow of her Upper West Side apartment balcony.
