She CAN stop!
Miley Cyrus‘ wild ways are far behind her.
The “Malibu” singer, who made headline after headline with her provocative outfits and NSFW photo shoots just years ago, admits she’s toned down her antics these days. Now happily back together with on-and-off boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, the 24-year-old opens up about shedding her bad girl image for something more chill and low-key.
So, why did she decide to stop twerking once and for all?
Back when she was promoting her fourth studio album, Bangerz, Miley Cyrus made numerous headlines with her outrageous antics, scantily-clad outfits, and NSFW photo shoots.
Most notably, the former Disney Channel star angered parents and fans when she twerked alongside Robin Thicke — a married man who was almost twice her age at the time — wearing next to nothing at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Needless to say, her wild behavior and scandalous looks became part of her image.
Toning It Down
In the August 2017 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Miley opened up about changing her tune and toning down her look. Reflecting on her past, the songstress said felt distant to who she was just three years ago.
“I feel really kind of far away from that person,” she shared. “I just want people to see that this is who I am right now. I’m not saying I’ve never been myself. … Who I was on the last record was really who I am. It’s just myself has been a lot of different people because I change a lot.”
“It became something that was expected of me. I didn’t want to show up to photo shoots and be the girl who would get my tits out and stick out my tongue,” she said of her controversial brand. “In the beginning, it was kind of like saying, ‘F**k you. Girls should be able to have this freedom or whatever.’ But it got to a point where I did feel sexualized.”
