Miley Cyrus Was Super High While Filming This Music Video
"That's just how insane I am. That's just normal."
Before Miley Cyrus stopped smoking weed, she was pretty much high all the time.
During her latest appearance on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment on Late Late Show, the 24-year-old confessed to toking up even while on the job. Though she admittedly doesn’t smoke before going on stage, she did get high before stripping down to film one of her music videos.
“I can’t smoke before I go on stage. I get too scared,” she said, revealing she wasn’t stoned while hosting the MTV Video Music Awards.
“That’s just me. That’s how insane I am. That’s just normal,” the “Younger Now” singer continued. She rated herself a “10” on a stoner scale of 10 while shooting scenes for her “Wrecking Ball” music video.
Despite being “high as hell” on set, Miley said she managed to cry actual tears for the emotional climax of the video. “I really was crying though. It wasn’t fake tears,” she shared. “No, it wasn’t a tear stick.”
“I thought about my puppy. I had a puppy that died and he was my No. 1,” she explained of Floyd, the Alaskian Klee Kai that passed away in 2014. “That’s how much I love my puppy.”
On the same episode, the Disney Channel star spoke about ditching her wild past. Though once infamous for her skimpy outfits and drug-fueled behavior, Miley since settled down to a more low-key domestic life with fiancé Liam Hemsworth. The turning point, she claimed, was the 2013 MTV VMAs performance in which she made headlines twerking next to Robin Thicke.
“I realized if that many people were going to talk about something that I did, or something that I do, then I should make it a good thing. And I should make it something that can change people’s lives rather than be a controversial conversation that does nothing but become a fun Halloween costume for people.”
Miley added that she doesn’t regret that part of her life, saying, “I loved that that was me and is me and is a part of me. And I think it allowed that childhood self to shine through a little bit more because I’m not trying to run away from it. I’m down to embrace it.”
“See, I thought you were going to say you stopped smoking weed,” James quipped.
Earlier this year, Miley revealed she had quit drugs because she wanted to have a clearer head. She told Billboard, “I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it]. I’m not doing drugs, I’m not drinking, I’m completely clean right now! That was just something that I wanted to do.”
“When I want something, it’s f**king easy for me. But if anyone told me not to smoke, I would have not done it. It’s because it was on my time. I know exactly where I am right now,” she elaborated on why she decided to quit. “I like to surround myself with people that make me want to get better, more evolved, open. And I was noticing, it’s not the people that are stoned. I want to be super clear and sharp, because I know exactly where I want to be.”
