‘RHOC’ Cleaning House? Another Star Fired After Peggy Gets the Axe
This is major!
Lydia McLaughlin was added to the cast in season eight of the show but left soon after to focus on her family. She was asked back for season twelve, but apparently the network now thinks it was a mistake! An insider told Radar Online, “Lydia came back, but she wasn’t interesting.”
According to the insider, the producers wanted Lydia to take on a peacemaking role to mend the rift between Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, and Vicki Gunvalson. She took some responsibility for them in that role, but the three women made amends with each other on the reunion special with some (but not much) help from Lydia.
Vicki denied deliberately insulting Tamra and Shannon, then walked off the stage threatening to leave the show because of their hurtful accusations. Lydia asked her to come back to the set, and Vicki apologized to both Tamra and Shannon. They all forgave each other and hoped that they could move forward.
Bring It On!
On the reunion show, Lydia was less interested in helping her co-stars find peace and more interested in feuding with Meghan King Edmonds over a psychic. Lydia said that she was cordial to a psychic hired by Meghan for a party, but she refused to participate in any readings. Lydia felt that it was against her Christian beliefs, and Meghan said that Lydia should use her “brains” instead of just reading the Bible.
Lydia wrote in her blog, “Meghan doesn’t believe in Jesus. That’s her opinion. It’s ironic to me that Meghan wants me to be so open minded when she clearly has a closed mind about religious points of view.”
Meghan fired back on Instagram:
“I have an incredibly fulfilling and strong faith in God and in that faith I adamantly believe all groups of people should be treated equally. I believe that right and wrong don’t need to be such a gray area if you just listen to the heart that God gave you and I trust that whatever faith you follow – or do not follow – that will you accept love above all.”
A Changed Show
Lydia aligned herself with Peggy for that particular fight, and both of the ladies proved too combative to go on. As we previously reported, Peggy was allegedly let go because she couldn’t find any common ground with the costars.
According to the insider, Meghan may have been on the chopping block too, but she surprised the production crew with her pregnancy which helped keep her around.
The source continued, “They were not planning on bringing Meghan back, but she sprung the pregnancy news on them at the reunion. So she’s kind of forcing them to bring her back even though they didn’t want to.”
As far as the other stars go, Vicki, Tamra, and Shannon are likely to return. The source added that “[t]hey’re strongly considering bringing Gretchen [Rossi] back next season. They need an antagonist to create some drama.”
