Game on for Beckham Brouhaha

Apr 25, 2008 at 2:39pm

Everyone wants a piece of soccer stud David Beckham. And you can’t say Victoria‘s babe didn’t try, giving his sweaty, smelly game jersey to two boys and inadvertently starting a legal war between two families.

After the L.A. Galaxy’s loss to the Gamba Osaka in Honolulu as part of the touring Pan-Pacific Championships, Becks stripped down—as he is wont to do—and gave his worn shirt to a 10-year-old who’d been holding a sign.

The other kid tried to grab it, and the rest would just be history, until the first family filed suit demanding the jersey’s return. Offers to share have been turned down flat.

The Galaxy’s general manager says all the angst is avoidable: “My suggestion is that the judge get a pair of scissors, cut the thing in half and give half to each.”

Maybe they should just have a free-kick death match? ‘Cause a full Beckham jersey is far greater than the sum of its parts.
