The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards were held Sunday evening, with Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire and the HBO miniseries John Adams winning multiple awards in film and television respectively.
Critics' Choice Award winner Slumdog Millionaire, a romance-beating-all-odds tale set against the backdrop of an Indian television game show, won for Best Motion Picture, Drama and Best Motion Picture Director.

John Adams, the story of the Revolutionary War tactician and second President of the United States struggling to establish democracy to America, won four awards including Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television; Best Actress, Miniseries or Motion Picture made for Television for Laura Linney and Best Actor for Paul Giamatti.
A touching moment came when the late Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Actor for his role as villain of the year the Joker in The Dark Knight. People reports that Christopher Nolan, Knight's director, said he wanted to focus, not on Heath's death, but on "the incredible place in the history of world cinema he built for himself."
Another notable win was this year's definitive comeback as the critical of other actors Mickey Rourke grabbed Best Actor, Motion Picture Drama for his role in The Wrestler. He thanked his dogs.
Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role as a dissatisfied 1950s housewife in Revolutionary Road. She apologized to her husband, Road director Sam Mendes, for being so "mental at the end" and gave a shout-out to kids Joe and Mia. Winslet also took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for her role as a suspected Nazi in The Reader.
