‘Gossip Girl’ Gives the CW a Rise

Gossip Girl appears to be the gift that keeps on giving to the CW.

Whereas the season premiere scored two weeks ago with 3.4 million viewers, last night’s episode served up the best Monday night in the network’s history, with 3.7 million viewers, 1.9 preliminary adults 18 to 49 rating and a 5 share, notes the Hollywood Reporter.

Translated to English, that means the show did quite well both overall and among important demographics. “Among the CW’s key women 18-34 demo (4.2/12), for example, Gossip was up 27% from its second season premiere,” reports the trade publication.

Gee-whiz! It’s enough to make a network exec pee his pants! But, uh, just don’t ask Leighton Meester to clean up afterward.
