According to the New York Post, the 40-year-old actor is setting plans in motion for sequels to his stimulating superhero movie Hancock and apocalyptic zombie flick I Am Legend, films that have amassed worldwide grosses of $623 million and $584 million, respectively.

"He is ready to do both. Producers are just trying to get Charlize Theron to sign on for the Hancock sequel," a Hollywood insider tells the paper.

One of Smith's reps confirms, "There have been talks about both of these projects."

The new projects will no doubt bolster Smith's bulging coffers considerably; the actor scored a $20 million paycheck for Hancock alone, and has been named Hollywood's highest-paid actor by Forbes magazine, raking in $80 million between June 2007 and June 2008.

That'll buy a lot of Scientology training centers.

The I Am Legend sequel will be more of a prequel, according to the insider—understandable, as Smith's character, Robert Neville, dies in the 2007 original. "It will be about how the disease spreads and the fall of the last great American city. It will also develop the relationship between Will's character and his wife."

Smith might as well get while the getting is good.

Show biz is a cruel, fickle mistress, filled with young up-and-comers looking to knock you off your throne. And in Smith's case, they might be closer than he thinks.
