Whitney Houston's new album will drop in March, and she will reportedly kick off her comeback with a performance at mentor Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammys party. Page Six reports that Houston will perform brand new songs from the CD live at the event.

Oprah Winfrey revealed that she auditioned for a pivotal role in the award-winng film Doubt opposite Meryl Streep. The director turned Oprah down and the role went to actress Viola Davis. Us reports that Winfrey revealed her failure during Tuesday's episode of her talk show when she interviewed star Meryl Streep via Skype. Winfrey stated that she felt a connection to the material (about a Catholic nun who faces off with a priest over a rumor of sexual abuse) and had always wanted to work with the multiple Oscar-winning actress.

Actor James Caan is suing Daniel Adams and Fish Weir Filmworks, LLC over a failed movie deal. Caan alleges in court papers that the film production company had signed him to play a role in the film The Lightkeepers for $2 million and then backed out. TMZ reports that Caan was supposed to have begun shooting in August 2008.

New American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is engaged to a contractor. Her rep tells ET that "Kara DioGuardi and former schoolteacher turned general contractor Mike McCuddy were engaged on December 8th while on holiday in Mexico. No wedding date has been planned." DioGuardi's debut as American Idol's fourth judge was this week.
