Updates on the story "Shia's Oscar Weekend: Directing Rap Video" on Celebuzz

This video directing stuff is really catching on for Shia LaBeouf.

The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star spent this Oscar weekend directing a video for longtime friend and rapper Cage, Celebuzz has learned exclusively.

The video, for Cage's single "I Never Knew You," was shot at the American Apparel factory in downtown Los Angeles.

It's a "stingy, weird warehouse," Christian Bernhardt, a booking agent for Cage, tells Celebuzz.

Bernhardt would not say whether Shia would appear in the video. But Celebuzz learned that 500 extras were needed to create a human circle for a dream sequence in the video that was shot Sunday.

Both rapping and video direction are two areas of growing expertise for Shia. Longtime friend, Rumspringa's Itaru de La Vega, told Celebuzz that LaBeouf would break into long free-style raps during the filmed road-trip that became their music video − Shia's directorial debut.

"He'd rap for like miles at a time, causing us to miss our stops sometimes," de la Vega said. "It was so entertaining. He's done that since high school and he's surprisingly really talented at it.”
