Gwyneth Paltrow Wants You To Back Off Her GOOP
Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to criticism of her GOOP website.
That criticism being that it’s elitist, as Toronto’s Globe and Mail summed up with its suggestion of alternate titles for the site. “Perhaps ‘Any Old Load of Rubbish’ and ‘Learn From Me, Ungrateful Peasant’ were both taken,” one writer snarked.
People reports that Paltrow thinks her lifestyle website (which also goes out in the form of e-mailed newsletters) is misunderstood.
“I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it,” Paltrow, 36, said at a benefit she was hosting in NYC last night.
The New York Times recently ran a whole article questioning why the site exists.
“I think that people like people to stay in their ‘box’ – they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them,” Paltrow says.
The actress, currently starring in Two Lovers with “hip-hop artist” Joaquin Phoenix, says that she got Goop-y “because I felt like I had a lot of really useful information that I was privileged enough to get, because I have this amazing, super, fortunate life.”
Useful information would be to explain why you can’t be on the red carpet with your husband.

I agree with Gwyneth Paltrow – leave Goop alone. There is nothing wrong with it. Actually, I have used some of her recipes, have told people about restaurants in London, New York and, today, Paris (some of which I already knew and some new ones). Leave the poor girl alone. She’s asking for nothing from this and if people don’t like it they don’t have to sign up.
Ooookaaay. Gwenyth, what you are experiencing is a mid-life crisis. You go on ahead and enjoy it. Don’t drag everyone else into the hollow void where you live.
Goop is a resource, take it or leave it. I’ll take because Gwenyth covers more geography than I do and seems to have good taste. What’s all the hullabaloo…
God she is an idiot! I hate people that found fortune and fame through their parents and tries to seem like they know everything. she is an horrible actress, no emotion, stone face idiot. she should just be quiet and use her free time learning how to act!
God she is an idiot! Now I like Madonna very much, can’t act but she puts a hell of a show!
what the girl isn’t aloud to express her feelings and show emotions over things that she is fond of ?..when did that become a thing to debate about? I appreciate that she has the moxi to express herself like this when so many other whiney people would rather just critisize and stay cloisterd in there little world and just throw stones…I like her, and think she’
s just great…leave her alone…Jeff

HERE HERE! I agree with this person 100%!!
What are you all doing to help anyone, lately? You know what they say…point your finger in accusation at anyone and you’ve got four pointing back at you. And, if that Globeandmail writer is M Wente read some more of her inane columns and report back here.
Who is Gwenneth Paltro?
What people need to do is stop complaining about everything and talk about the real issues like homelessness and poverty. You actually want to help go to http://www.grmnewark.org and help the needy. There are more important issues out there than what a celebrity is doing with their free time.

Well your last statement proves my point that you are the idiot. Do not critize people that work hard and succeed. People that sit on their ass and draw what ever free programs they can get from the government, need to thank these famous and rich people. They pay your bills! Anyone, in this country anyway, has same opportunity to go to school and work hard to become rich. But it is so much easier to let everyone else work to support the lazy moochers we have in this country.

Where’s the forgiveness! Please – if you can’t say anything constructive or nice – wsell – you know the old saying.
And as for those of us compelled to take something from the Government – believe me – we would rather be working for a living. Unfortunately – as this column has proven – there is a lot of ignorance hindering us from getting employment.
So, let’s just spread some love and forgiveness and move on.
Um, I think when I point my finger at someone (which I try never to do) there are only 3 pointing back at me. What am I doing wrong?
Gwyneth, Gwynneth, Gwyneth. Gwyneth there gonna be peath on the earth?

Do you know the place where the rich and famous are giving out money to pay for out bills? What line do I need to stand in?
Gee whiz, posters, those criticizing Gwyneth have just as much right to air their comments publicly as does Gwyneth. When are we going to realize that freedom of speech is a “right” which should NOT be taken from us!
To Savory, sometimes what is constructive is not necessarily what someone wants to hear. It is ignorant and naive to think otherwise. The “make love not war” crowd have never dealt with terrorists.
Never heard of Goop but now I will just have to check it out. I bet the site is cookin with all these juicy comments.
Until Gwyneth lives in middle America and works a steady job that doesn’t require a makeup artist and a hair stylist and that pays a realistic wage/salary she doesn’t need to push her politically correct, Eurotrash, environmental hocus-pocus on the majority because she is in the minority. The minority which inculdes celebs and quack environmentalists are people who are bored with their lives so they feel like they need to tell the rest of us how to live and if we choose not to live the way they suggest we MUST, then we “Just don’t get it”. Gwyneth, we get it! We don’t want it! She is a celeb and her opinion is not golden. I’m sick of these celebs who think we need to be exposed to their infinite wisdom. I don’t need advice from someone who is overpaid to pretend for a living (and then claim it to be art). This celeb obsession is nuts. They do not live in reality. Celebs are the last people in the world who should be giving us advice on how to live, what to think, what to wear, blah, blah, blah. We can only hope for the Celeb-patch to be approved by the FDA so we can put some of these people obsessed with celebs on it. Anyone who claims we have terrible poverty in this country is uninformed. If you want to see poverty, go into the farming communities of China and South Africa. They live in make-shift shelters with dirt floors. You can go into ANY government housing community in the USA and they ALL WILL HAVE RUNNING WATER AND A TELEVISION!!! That is not poverty. Put a bandaid on that bleeding heart. PERSPECTIVE PEOPLE!!!
Amen! apatriot, you need your own wedsite! that was the best post thus far…

Patriot…well said. I’d like to reiterate that we get it G, we just don’t WANT it!

I think you’re an idiot…who doesn’t have a clue what talent is….that likes to bring other people down because you’re jealous, and too stupid to realize it. Why don’t you try being positive…?…who knows, it might eventually bring you intelligence. If you’re only 14 then, nevermind.
when you write aloud, it appears you mean ‘allowed’. Ever use that word before?
I agree, there is no way a normal person working 9 to 5 could follow this diet nor schedule. It’s ridiculous! She has no idea what a normal life is, not with her mother being an actress also. We are not haters, just people living in reality!

It appears to me that you people writing are angry about your life so you project it using Gweneth’s site as a sounding board. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!
Obviously, if most of you feel Gweneth has nothing “Miracle” to say, that she should just be quiet because she’s from a family of an actress and a producer/director and is “rich”. If you feel that way in the first place, why did you read her website and get all worked up? I didn’t know about this website and I am interested in seeing what “the famous” have to say. Doesn’t mean I like it. Doesn’t mean I agree with it. Maybe I do like it. Maybe I do agree with it. Either way, I don’t get all worked up over it and express my anger towards an innocent person who has the “right” to state what h/she feels, whether h/she’s someone famous or someone who is not.
You go Gweneth! Keep writing your feelings and don’t listen to the negative stuff! It’s not worth it.
Peace,
Cid
Pretentious crap.

To state that she can’t act just shows your own ignorance. In most people’s opinions she is one of the finest actors of her generation and has plenty of awards to show for it. Are you a failed actor by any chance?
its a website, if you dont want to read what she has to say…then dont go on the website. end of story.
Gwyneth Paltrow is a wonderful person, and like all of us, is just making her way through life. She was born to privilege, and why make excuses. She carried the ball with what she’s been given. Could she do more? We all can. I found her site to be the mostly of a cut and paste variety, and she could certainly work on that, but she doesn’t profess to be some literary or website genius. Of course, there are commercial aspects to her endeavor. Mostly doing anything well is worthwhile doing for money. I don’t blame her for that.
I actually like seeing the high side of life, and some of things she apparently likes or believes in. It gives me some sense of what is possible, and a little bit of a voyeuristic thrill. Some of it may be phony, but what do you expect given her stature and career. It isn’t easy being a celebrity. Granted, having money makes a big difference, but you can’t buy happiness. Some of these folks live horribly depraved lives, and even commit suicide.
Hey, calling her site Goop is better than calling it Slop, which is what many of you commenting are willing to sling in a breath without considering your own weaknesses.
I applaud Gwyneth for reaching out in this crazy world when she really doesn’t have to. Her commercial interests would succeed or fail on their own merit anyway. Why can’t she try something different, and I hope all of you don’t meet this sort of criticism when you do if ever.
