Gwyneth Paltrow Wants You To Back Off Her GOOP

Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to criticism of her GOOP website.

That criticism being that it’s elitist, as Toronto’s Globe and Mail summed up with its suggestion of alternate titles for the site. “Perhaps ‘Any Old Load of Rubbish’ and ‘Learn From Me, Ungrateful Peasant’ were both taken,” one writer snarked.

People reports that Paltrow thinks her lifestyle website (which also goes out in the form of e-mailed newsletters) is misunderstood.

“I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don’t really get it, because if they did, they would like it,” Paltrow, 36, said at a benefit she was hosting in NYC last night.

The New York Times recently ran a whole article questioning why the site exists.

“I think that people like people to stay in their ‘box’ – they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them,” Paltrow says.

The actress, currently starring in Two Lovers with “hip-hop artist” Joaquin Phoenix, says that she got Goop-y “because I felt like I had a lot of really useful information that I was privileged enough to get, because I have this amazing, super, fortunate life.”

Useful information would be to explain why you can’t be on the red carpet with your husband.
