Harold Perrineau: Whitey’s Keeping Me Down!
In a conspiracy theory worthy of the show’s own bizarre plot twists, Lost actor Harold Perrineau believes his character, Michael, was killed off the show because of racial issues.
In a new interview with TV Guide, the 44-year-old Brooklyn native put forth an interesting thought regarding his character’s demise.
“Listen, if I’m being really candid, there are all these questions about how they respond to black people on the show,” Perrineau lamented. “Sayid gets to meet Nadia again, and Desmond and Penny hook up again, but a little black boy and his father hooking up, that wasn’t interesting? Instead, Walt [Michael's son on the show] just winds up being another fatherless child. It plays into a really big, weird stereotype and, being a black person myself, that wasn’t so interesting.”
Lost executive producer Carlton Cuse scoffed at the actor’s allegations: “We pride ourselves on having a very racially diverse cast. It’s painful when any actor’s storyline ends on the show.”
Duhn-duhn-duhhhnnnn!
Luckily, Perrineau has managed to extricate himself from the Man’s death grip and has landed another gig on the ABC dramedy pilot The Unusuals. Harold will portray Leo Banks, described as “an always agitated detective who never takes off his Kevlar vest.”
Sounds like he already has the “agitated” part down pat.

Wow! he’s really throwing it all out there!
yikes. he sounds pretty butt-hurt about the whole thing. he wasn’t much of an asset to the show though, i’ve gotta say.
OMG! michael is one of the best characters on the show.
i cant believe walt still thinks hes alive on the island…. sad
LOST SUCKS.
I agree. I bet in the end, they’re gonna be like, “if you’re lost, then we’ve accomplished our mission. dum dum dum.”
michael was one of the best characters
I read that Carlton Cruz personally introduced crack cocaine to the inner cities in the 80s.
D-R-A-M-A
i cant wait to see his new pilot
i think its a little dumb to pull the race card, especially seeing as the character was pretty useless, and a little annoying.
Can YOU stand a crazy guy screaming “WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!” for an entire season?
Wow, paranoid much? The character of Michael is quite possibly one of the worst fictional characters ever created. Even in MIchaels sleep, he was angry. He potraied not one single positive emotion which could have drawn anyone in. Totally useless and constatintly irritating. this Character got on my nerves I wish they wrote out Michael sooner
What a load of crap. He had main story lines throughout his time on the show and if he hasn’t noticed, several characters of all races have been knocked off. I really liked his character on the show and it played well in the mystery that is soon going to end -thank God. I can’t wait to know what the heck the show is going to reveal as an ending but Perrineau’s comment is paranoid if not racist itself. What a disappointment for any actor to use that as a reasons or excuse. Lost is the very example of “diversity” and for him to suggest otherwise reflects poorly on him.
