‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ Already Breaking Records
With two days to go until its release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is already making movie magic.
Deadline Hollywood reports that the penultimate installment of the Harry Potter movie series has already broken records in both advance ticket sales and in scheduled screenings for its opening. The movie has already racked up $25 million in advance ticket sales, and will open in a jaw-dropping 3,700 locations for its midnight opening. That latter figure could climb even higher, as demand for tickets increases.
Overall, Deathly Hallows will be released in 4,125 theaters on Friday, for a total of more than 9,000 screens. It’s also scheduled to open in 239 IMAX theaters, which is itself a record, and even that might not be enough, according to an insider:
“Since almost all the IMAX have sold out the weekend already, they are adding a 3 AM show starting with the first midnight show.”
