Heidi Montag Officially Files for Divorce

It appears that Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's breakup is for real, and depending which side you believe, things are either friendly between the two (says Heidi) or envy is rampant and caused their split (Spencer's verdict).

People magazine reports that Montag officially filed for divorce from Pratt in Santa Monica Superior Court on Friday. In the papers, Montag, who filed for separation from her estranged husband two months ago, cites "irreconcilable differences," but Spencer begs to differ.

According to Montag's lawyer, Jodeane Farrell,

"Heidi has amended her petition for separation and today has filed a petition for dissolution of marriage from Spencer Pratt. The couple has agreed they would like their divorce to be finalized in a timely manner in an out of court settlement. Both parties are amicable with each other and over the possibility of finalizing their divorce."

Pratt, in a statement to UsMagazine.com, was a bit less amicable. Says Spencer,

"Well, some say if you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Heidi couldn't handle King Spencer's fame so she got out of the marriage."

The Hills co-stars were married last April in Pasadena, California. Recently Pratt admitted that his never-ending quest for media attention had driven a wedge between them, noting, "I'm a fame whore."

Earlier this week it was rumored that the couple might still be together despite their public professions of estrangement.
