I got my nails done Rainbow colors to celebrate my new daughter’s name!
I have always loved the name Rainbow. There was a girl in my school a few years younger than me named Rainbow and I was so envious of her name because it was so pretty and unusual. She was a perfectly normal, well-adjusted, sporty girl, by the way, so I’m not worried about my daughter being “traumatized” by having an unusual name.
There are a lot of smug haters out there who bag on my choice of a name, but I don’t care about what they think. I want my daughter to be proud of who she is and learn to speak up and stand up for herself at a young age. I spent most of my life being a people-pleaser who worried about what other people thought or thought was cool and I don’t want that for her.
I couldn’t be more blessed to have such a perfect daughter and have never been happier than I am now!

You know, I have an unusual name and gave my daughter one too. I think it’s good to have a unique and/or unusual name. As long as you like it and it means something special to you, what else matters?

I think Rainbow a beautiful name….Unfortunately, I was worried about what people would think when we were naming our youngest daughter, and so I opted for a different name. The name I wanted to give her was a name I had loved for years, but it was unique and had a different spelling. I still love the name we gave her, but I wish I wouldn’t have fallen victim to “What would people say?” . It’s such a lame reason to base a decision on that only affects you and your family.
Don’t worry about the haters, Holly. You and Pasquale are her parents and, like I said, it’s a beautiful name!

My daughter’s name isn’t real common. Her name is Brenna. I have a sister named Brenda that was upset that her second child was another boy and mine was a girl. So I found the name in a baby book. This was 28 years ago. I had never heard the name then. Now i’ve heard it a few times. She’s always hated her name, but I think it’s pretty. Just like rainbow is a beautiful name. Nothing wrong with being uncommon…

My name is Regan and although not highly uncommon I grew up not knowing anyone with the same name. I faced many mispronunciations and a lot of questions as to where it came from. I however LOVED having a different name! I would not change it for the world! In fact, I am pregnant and having a girl we are naming her Brynn which is not extremely popular and I am hoping she finds the same value in having a different name and identity as I did growing up! I hope the same for your little one! Plus she could have tons of cute nicknames from Rainbow!

My daughter’s name is Valora and it means brave. She has certainly lived up to it in these first 7 years. AND she was born 2 days before Halloween (and the day after Matilda Ledger was born)! It’s okay to have a unique name, as long as it’s not completely out there. Just know that you will NEVER find her name on those personalized keychains! LOL Her middlename is a little more common, just a different spelling. I just KNEW there was going to be a Disney Princess name in there somewhere with you, and figured it would be Aurora (which is my daughter’s favorite Princess). I know the feeling of wanting your daughter to be more independent than yourself, I am a lot like you because I worry how others see me too. We’ll get through it together! Welcome to mommyhood!!
My bro- in- laws name is Rainbo n he’s a “meat-head” kinda guy. (o.O) My boys’ names are Aspen Sky and Eko Rain. I think unusual names teach you to not take crap from the get-go, which is a great life lesson.

To me it doesn’t matter what other people say about the name. I feel it is an awesome name because she has brought a “Rainbow” into you’re life, so enjoy her she is awesome just like her Mom.

My 2 yr old is named Magnolia! So many people do not like it, but from he day we found out she was a girl I could not imagine calling her anything else! Rainbow is a great name! As long as she is raised to know she is unique, just like her name, she will be strong enough to ignore the ignorant remarks!

You know i’m all for unique my name is uniquely spelled but truthfully I remember going to places as a kid and whating nothing more than to be able to buy those stupid little keychains or cups with my name already on it and never getting to get one… I am just saying unique is not always best.
