Howard Stern to Replace Simon Cowell on American Idol? Um, Sure, Why Not?
The race to replace departing American Idol judge Simon Cowell has just taken a bizarre and potentially raunchy new turn.
According to the New York Post, Fox is courting radio kingpin Howard Stern—whose contract with Sirius XM Radio expires next January—to step in for Cowell when he moves on to launch the American version of The X Factor. An insider spills to the paper,
“It’s one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and Idol bosses think he’d be even nastier than Simon…They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneres and the contestants. Idol will do what it takes to sign him.”
Hmm; well, now that bikini-clad contestants have apparently become de rigueur on Idol, maybe it’s not such a stretch after all.
What say you, readers; would Howard Stern make a good replacement for Simon Cowell? Sound off in the comments section!

Look, Howard has been in radio for 30 years. He certainly knows more about music than Ellen does. I think it would be an excellent choice. Love him or hate him, people would watch.
Howard would be a genius choice! Talk about a guy you love to hate. He’d be perfect to replace Simon.
If this happens I will never watch American Idol again
This would invigorate ‘Idol.’ I would definitely watch. Howard is one of the funniest personalities on radio.
OMG! If they hire Howard, I may actually watch American Idol!
genius idea
Howar knows music, very intelligent, and a ecellent choice. PROBLEM,Howard doesn,t like to travel. Now if Fox would be willing to produce the show from New York, he might do it.
uh ok! Simon may piss me off sometimes but if he got replaced I would never watch American Idol again!!
It would be absolutely GREAT if Howard joins idol!!! That show NEEDs new life and yes Ellen will be good and funny but Howard would be AWESOME!!! He is one of the funniest, honest and SMARTEST people around!
