God knows who appointed the editors of People magazine as arbiters of male sensuality, but they're doing a damn fine job of picking the world's most doable dudes.

Australian human-action-figure Hugh Jackman, 40, is crowned the Sexiest Man Alive in the magazine's special double issue. The Australia and Wolverine leading man earned his title the old-fashioned way. By remaining married to his wife of 12 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, 48, and taking their kids, Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3, for topless romps in the swimming pool.

Hugh is at a high point professionally. Australia, in which Jackman teamed with fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman, 41, has been the most highly anticipated epic of the Oscar season. The Australia premiere will be followed fast and furious by Hugh's embodiment of the super-powered title character in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Other superlatively sexy fellows on the People honor roll include Twilight beauty Robert Pattinson, 22, High School Musical dream boat Zac Efron, 21, soccer sensation David Beckham, 38, and Lipstick Jungle's Robert Buckley, 27.
