Jake Gyllenhaal To Take a Gamble in New Film 'Mississippi Grind'
One of the duo's earlier films, Half Nelson, earned Ryan Gosling an Academy Award nomination for best actor. Mississippi Grind will center on a down-and-out gambler who teams up with Gyllenhaal for a road trip across the south in an attempt to change his luck and get himself out of debt.
What else can you expect from Gyllenhaal's new flick?
The lead actor has yet to be cast, but The Hollywood Reporter calls the opportunity a "plum role for the forty-something set."
In other Gyllenhaal news, the actor's cop drama End of Watch is set to hit theaters in September. It will center on two young officers — Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña — who are marked for death after confiscating a small cache of money and firearms from the members of a notorious cartel.
Gyllenhaal recently opened up to Details about the extreme prep required for the film, telling the magazine: “Five months for a 22-day shoot. Three nights a week in ride-alongs with cops. Fight training every morning at Kenpo Karate Dojo, and I got the sh*t kicked out of me.”
End of Watch opens on Sept. 22.
