Nice to see that James Franco finally has a backup plan.
The Spider-Man baddie is a newly minted graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, after taking English literature courses on the downlow for years between acting projects.
The 30-year-old isn't stopping there; in September he'll be moving from Los Angeles to New York to attend NYU, where he'll undertake a course load of as-yet-unspecified post-gradutate work.
Though his parents were disappointed when he dropped out of college, Franco says that he pursued his college diploma as much for himself as for Ma and Pa Franco.
"For me, being able to act in movies is not having it all," the actor told New York Daily News. "I am interested in other things, and I take my interests seriously. Thus, I'm back in school."
Good for you, James! Hopefully your example will inspire your Spider-Man costar Tobey Maguire to go back to school too—for anger management classes.
Check out video of a cap-and-gowned Franco receiving his sheepskin below.
