Jamie Spears Gets a Raise

Pop mess Britney Spears' father, Jamie Spears, has quit his day job to oversee her affairs full time, according to court papers. He is a caterer—who knew?

For his troubles, People magazine reports, Spears will receive a retroactive payment of $10,000 to cover the first month of his coconservatorship of Britney's estate, which started Feb. 1. Beginning in March, Mr. Spears has received a weekly salary of $2,500. Hazard pay! Things are unfortunate when you gotta pay your pop to look after you, and then you have to tip him.

Oddly, no one would argue that Britney's situation has improved since Jamie took the wheel. She was granted extended visitation rights with sons Sean and Jayden, who currently live with Britney's ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

Jamie got his bonus after his attorneys applied for "replacement compensation" in court. And some 7-Eleven gift cards so he can make sure his girl is never without Funions, Red Bull, scratch tickets and string cheese.

"The responsibilities he has assumed as conservator...have required [his] full-time attention," says the legal request. "As a result, he has been unable to continue to his prior employment, and he has lost his source of income, which he needs to pay his living expenses." Bye-bye, sterno and snooty brides; hello, full-time fun with the daughter from hell!

Britney and Jamie recently vacationed at the home of drunken bigot Mel Gibson in Costa Rica, where her 10 percenter Jason Trawick made his moves. Just having to watch that is worth a bigger cut for papa Spears.
