Janet Jackson’s Diminishing Returns in Detroit

Oct 30, 2008 at 1:19pm

After a recent string of setbacks, Janet Jackson is on the road again and about to wrap up the North American leg of her troubled Rockwitu Tour on Saturday in New York.

However, when the singer played Detroit’s Palace of Auburn Hills earlier this week, it was to a pared-down crowd. Billboard notes that only 8,000 folks showed up to the 21,000-capacity venue. Nasty!

To be fair, this was a make-up show for one of the tour dates she initially canceled due to a bout of—what was it again?—ah, yes…vertigo.

Maybe some of the original ticket holders didn’t want to Rockwither after the disappointment.

“We hope you enjoyed the show we gave you,” Janet said during her encore, while apologizing for nixing the original show’s date.

Good luck on Saturday, Janet. And be sure to burn those outfits first thing Sunday morning!
