It seems that the preliminary reports were true—former American Idol contestant and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson is pregnant.

Though Hudson has yet to confirm the pregnancy herself, the Chicago Tribune reports that a baby shower was thrown for the songbird in downtown Chigaco over the weekend.

Hudson’s pal, singer/actress Felicia Fields, confirms, “It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family. They’re really trying to keep it kind of quiet.”

Hudson, 27, is engaged to former reality-TV personality David Otunga, who’s  currently pursuing a career in professional wrestling.

As for whether the couple is expecting a baby boy or girl, Fields adds, ““They don’t know [the gender].” Congrats!
