Official: Jermaine Jones Kicked Off 'American Idol'

Jermaine Jones
American Idol contestant Jermaine Jones was officially kicked off the show's 11th season Wednesday night after producers discovered that he had four outstanding warrants. He also gave fake names to police on two separate occasions in 2011, according to reports.

The 25-year-old from New Jersey was confronted on camera by Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe earlier this week; and while Jermaine admitted that he was "scared" to come forward about his past, he took the producers' decision in stride.

Following the elimination, Idol showed footage from Jermaine's rehearsal for this week's "Songs From The Year They Were Born" theme. He was to sing the Oscar-nominated song Somewhere Out There, from 1986.

Despite Jermaine's farewell, host Ryan Seacrest said the lowest vote getter from tonight's telecast will still face elimination on tomorrow night's results show.

Jermaine's past was originally reported this morning by TMZ.

What do you think? Did Jermaine deserve to get the boot for his criminal past? Vote now in our poll, then sound off in the comments!
