Jessica Simpson: Abused 'Elle' Covergirl?

Jessica Simpson told the September 2008 Elle magazine that she's been the past victim of abuse.

And she's not talking about the trauma of seeing herself repeat-styled exactly as she was for the September 2004 issue of Elle!

Simpson claims that her lyrics to "Remember That," from her new country album Do You Know, speak of real pain doled out by a real mean man.

"It doesn't matter how he hurts you / With his hands or with his words / You don't deserve it / It ain't worth it / Take your heart and run," the song goes."

"I don't want to talk about it, but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run," Simpson revealed to the interviewer.

If this is true—who was the culprit?

Her daddy, Papa Joe? Her former husband, Nick Lachey? Or her super ex-boyfriend, John Mayer?

Did the abuse go beyond having to listen to Mayer's music? And will John's defense be that she made him listen to her CDs first?

i kind of doubt that this is a publicity stunt. if it is, she should be ashamed of herself. but i feel sympathetic towards her, or anyone else who has suffered any type of abuse: physical, emotional, mental, etc.

Eluding to abuse? to help her image or something? What a bunch of crap she is pulling and eluding to the fact that it might have been Nick doing it and to make herself look like she had cause for breaking up her marriage to him. The only abuse she gets is the abuse she brought on herself from the fans and the media for thinking she can do better than the husband she has, which was Nick L. What a heartless bitch, and a stupid one!

It's sad that people still atack her even after she told her story.
I really think she's been abused if she wasn't she would name names.
It really happend to her you can tell when she talks about the song!
