This may be the smartest idea she's had in a while.

Jessica Simpson, who starred on the mega-popular MTV reality show The Newlyweds with ex-hubby Nick Lachey, may be returning to reality TV. 

Us Weekly is reporting that Jess recently pitched a reality series about society's harsh scrutiny of women's bodies to several TV stations. The singer has been under constant criticism of her weight, which appears to fluctuate from month to month.

A source reveals the plot of the show, titled The Price of Beauty: "She and a friend set off on a road trip around the world in search of what people find beautiful and why." Jess would also try some of the "shocking things that women do to make themselves beautiful. Picture Fear Factor."

 

A rep for the star confirms, "Jessica is indeed working on a new show, but network details have not been finalized at this time."
