Jessica Simpson’s Daddy Dearest at Work Again
Though it may seem as if Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo have come back together after a bump in the romance road last month, they have not. It’s been widely reported that Joe Simpson is the reason for their May breakup, now Us magazine tells why.
Papa Joe reportedly proposed taking over managing Romo’s NFL career, wherein the QB would drop his agent and Joe would oversee Romo’s $67.5 million contract. Ever helpful, he also offered to facilitate photo deals of Jessica and Tony’s betrothal and wedding. Except for one thing—they weren’t engaged.
Dangling the same megaprofitable draw Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz continue to enjoy, Joe saw it as a win-win. Like a dowry, except really sleazy.
“It’s unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients” Joe told Us in response to the allegations of megalomania. “And in this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?”
Jess and Tony are said to tenuously back together and at “a talking stage,” as long as dad butts out.
