Joe Francis got another lucky break today in court.
After pleading guilty to filing false tax returns in an LA court today, the Girls Gone Wild founder was sentenced to time served (301 days), $250,000 restitution and a $10,000 fine. He could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
U.S. District Judge S. James Otero accepted the deal because a key witness withheld information from prosecutors. Brad Brian, Francis’ head trial attorney, said in a statement,
"It took us seven months, but in the end we demonstrated that the felony tax charges never should have been brought in the first place. As a result, the indictment was dismissed and the charges were reduced to only two misdemeanors with no jail time."
Until next time...Joe's a free man.
