Goodness, Joel Madden! First you ditch your trademark hat. And now, dare it be said, you were looking downright straitlaced when you brought your babymama Nicole Richie to Vogue‘s Alberta Ferretti flagship store opening.

While baby Harlow Winter Kate Madden stayed home for the evening, the unconventional power couple attended the opening of the boutique on West Hollywood’s Melrose Avenue Wednesday night.  Also along for their dose of glamour were Marisa Tomei and Lucy Liu.

Also on hand for the event: Italian designer Ferretti herself, who’s known for her twisting, tucking and draping techniques, along with a subtle layered look. Take a look in the video:

Nicole, of course, wore a silver number by the designer to the soiree. Anything else would be terribly rude.
