John Mayer finally opened up about his breakup with unlucky-in-love actress Jennifer Aniston.

The "Gravity" singer (dressed like someone who's seen The Dark Knight too many times) was leaving Equinox gym in Manhattan's Soho neighborhood on Saturday when he got it off his chest.

To the paparazzi.

Mayer described Aniston as "the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I have ever met," People reports.

He denies that cheating was involved, despite his tendency to be linked with...well, everyone.

"There's no lying, there's no cheating, there's no nothing," he says.

"People are different, people have different chemistry. I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right."

Aniston, painted as someone constantly looking for love since her devastating breakup with ex-husband Brad Pitt, had been in a relationship with Mayer since April. They reportedly split up last week.
