John Mayer dealt with his breakup from Jennifer Aniston by enlisting in the Marines.

Not really. But OK! reports that Mayer did spend a day with the Marines at Air Station New River and Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

“Believe me when I say that the day was life-changing,” John said about his visit.

Lanky womanizer Mayer spent his visit on the gun range, observed hand-to-hand combat and visited wounded veterans of the war in Iraq.

“It was an awesome day,” Staff Sgt. Angela Mink said. “I think John would make a good Marine—but I wouldn’t want him to give up the blues guitar!”

Trust us, Sgt. Mink, you don't want to get with that dude. Just ask Aniston.
