Over the weekend John Mayer chopped off his hair and looked like he was trying to channel a more hard-rockin’, Billy Corgan-type stance on stage.

Maybe Jennifer Aniston told him to butch it up after he was caught bromancing Pete Wentz… again.

Jen’s been tagging along on the road lately with her man. People notes that she was at Mayer’s Irvine, California, concert Sunday, where he covered Tom Petty‘s “Free Fallin’.”

“Just like me, this song gets to sleep in its own bed tonight,” John cryptically said before launching the tune.

Guess Pete Wentz was out of town.
