Jon Gosselin Confirms Split on a Very Special 'Jon & Kate Plus 8'

Even though the cat was let out of the bag before the episode even aired, Jon and Kate Gosselin made it official on Monday night's airing of Jon & Kate Plus 8: Their marriage is dunzo.

"Kate and I have decided to separate," Jon stated during the program. "It's just not good for us to be arguing in front of our kids...We can't be cordial with one another."

Chiming in on the matter, Jon's ex-wife-to-be Kate noted that she's "not fond of the idea," but realizes that the split is "necessary."

"My goal is peace," Kate added. "If peace needs to be brought about by this, then I'm in agreement."

The couple had just "celebrated" their 10th wedding anniversary—albeit apart from each other—on June 12.

Ma Gosselin announced that she will be staying in the couple's Reading, Pennsylvania, home, while now-estranged hubby Jon—who's been hunting for apartments in New York—will "also come here when it is his days, and we will flip-flop that way."

So what went wrong?

In Jon's estimation, he was "too passive" during their relationship. Shocker!

"I just let her rule the roost and do whatever she wanted to do," Gosselin admitted. "Now I've finally stood up on my own two feet, and I'm proud of myself."

Well, better late than never.

i was mad when he said he was excited about the separation. how can you be excited, when you have 8 kids that are going to be messed up after this?

jon, hire a really good lawyer qick, before she tears you a brand new A-hole. Get into the fight, man, or you won't get sh*t, and run away from her as fast as you can. get a really good pi and find out where she really is. now that its public, go after her, she'd doing it to you.

I love to watched the show all the time I give alot of ideas and how to handle but know that their separed I think jon got tired of kate because the way she was to demand to him I used to like kate but I can't believed their divorced that was so fast and jon you could get something better than that girl you have she is to young for kate is better. I would like to see more of the show with the family hopefully they will tried to go back.
