I agree that this woman should be un-invited, What could she possibly have to offer to this conference? She used fertility treatments to get pregnant with her multiples, and did so irresponsibly. She then went on to use her childen to gain "fame'"& money. She has portrayed herself as a good Christian, hands-on mother which she is not. With all the help she has, the day to day work of raising a family is now someone elses responsibility. Kate is too busy getting her nails done or her weird hair re-done, unecessary days away on the book tours, and her errands...yea most people in Reading wear high heals and short skirts while shopping...LOL. She is an attention seeking, poor excuse for a mother...If she was doing the show for her kids it would have been over seasons ago, the money made would have been saved, she would have sought counseling for her failing marriage and then perhaps she could have been the stay at home, hands-on Mom she would like everyone to believe she is. She is a self-serving liar...if hermarriage was in trouble what was she doing renewing her wedding vows...f..or ratings($$$$$$) and the free trip to Hawaii. The only example she has set for me was how not to be on many levels as a wife and mother.
And Maria Shriver should be ashamed of herself for letting her daughters influence her to invite Kate. This particulary bad choice of a woman to invite makes the conference seem less serious than it should be.
She did not irresponsibly use fertility. She could not get pregnant, so she used artificial insemination, which is a way of fertility, BUT when they had the sextuplets they only wanted 1 more child, when they found out that they were pregnant with 6 they were at first devastated. Then when the doctor begin talking about reduction, that is when they were like NO, we could never end one of our children's lives.
I agree that they should have gone to counseling to work on their marriage, but Jon refused to talk about it. He was angry with her but he would not talk about it. And why did he say he was excited about the new chapter of his life??? What sane person is excited when he or she has 8 kids, a 10 year marriage and getting divorced. At least Kate showed fear, and remorse. If it was me, I would not be able to compose myself, I would be crushed.
As for the other topics you mentioned in here, only Jon and Kate know the truth behind those. But what I do think is that Kate's book tour was a way to bring income into the family, that is her work. Jon was home with the kids or at least supposed to be. She even said in the episode that she has been pulled away from home more than she wants because she is traveling to tour for her books because that is her JOB. I understand family comes above job, but at the same time, if it were a "normal" person touring to promote their book, you would not say the same thing.
And I def. Agree on the counseling again, but if Jon is not willing to talk or go then what can Kate do, she can't really do marriage counseling by herself. He even said in the last episode that he is not one to talk about how he feels but he is angry.
You say Kate is a bad example, but the husband is supposed to be the leader in a marriage, esp. in a Christian Marriage, and obviously Jon was not the leader that he should have been.
