Jonas Brothers Go Packing In 'Camp' Sequel

The Jonas Brothers-starring Disney Channel flick Camp Rock debuted to nine million viewers on Friday. The weekend ended with an announcement that a sequel is in the works. Mickey Mouse ain't sittin' on his tail when it comes to cold, hard cash!

Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas star in the movie musical alongside Demi Lovato, but don't expect there to be any tales of behind-the-scenes nookie. In fact, the biggest shocker is that Julie Brown co-wrote some of the showtunes. That's the redheaded Julie Brown, not she of Downtown.

For those jonas-ing for an added tween fix, Billboard notes the three bros are touring this summer with Lovato. Meanwhile, the fab foursome are also working on their respective Disney Channel series J.O.N.A.S. and Welcome To Mollywood.

“The Disney Channel is set to have the The Jonas Brothers return to go into production on a sequel to Camp Rock in late spring or summer 2009, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Although Camp Rock averaged 8.9 million viewers, according to the Disney Channel, it still didn’t top High School Musical 2. Camp Rock did, however, beat out the original High School Musical which debuted to 7.8 million viewers. HSM2 broke records for a cable premiere, grabbing 17.2 million in its August 2007 debut.

Camp Rock made the Disney Channel the number one network in its 8 p.m. slot, out-rating runner-up CBS by more than 3 million viewers. It was also top among kids 6 to 11 with 3.5 million viewers and tweens 9 to 14 with 3.4 million viewers.

The Camp Rock sequel will be pending a script that’s in development as well as the cast members’ busy schedules.”

“Jonas Brothers are reportedly considering their own clothing line now. When The Sun asked the teen pop group, Kevin said:

'We want to continue writing and producing and maybe bring out a clothing line. We want to continue making music for the rest of our lives..'


In terms of what else they would like to do, Nick said:

"Continue making records, acting and touring. We've also started producing and writing for other artists. We're writing for Demi Lovato, our Camp Rock costar."


Don't worry about them breaking up anytime soon though because Joe said:

"We're not planning any but we would consider side projects. We would never be able to leave the band as we feel strong as a unit."


What a relief! Oh and I can't wait - I'll be lining up with former American Idol Taylor Hicks as soon as their clothes hit the stores. I'm assuming their clothes will be unisex.”

“The Jonas Brothers have a new music video for their first single from their upcoming CD A Little Bit Longer. The single is called "Burning Up", and the bros get to play dress-up and fight the bad guys!

In the video, Nick Jonas fights bad guys and dodges danger as a James Bond-style villain while Kevin does kung fu and Joe sports a mustache playing a Miami Vice clone.

Aww, that sounds so cute! The album comes out on August 12th!”
