Jude Law Goes on a Gender Bender

Who’s this beautiful lady?

Why, it’s Jude Law, 36, looking sultry in drag for his new role in director Sally Potter‘s new film Rage!

Law plays transvestite supermodel Minx in the film, which is a murder mystery set in New York City’s fashion industry, according to Potter’s blog.

Law co-stars with Dame Judi Dench, Steve Buscemi, Eddie Izzard and model Lily Cole, who plays a character named Lettuce Leaf. Obviously, this is not a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada.

Jude and co-star Cole, 20, were seen going out on dates, including a Radiohead concert, this past summer. Perhaps he was preemptively asserting to Lily that he’s all man when the wig’s not on?

Director Potter blogged on her Web site about how Law employed his natural male beauty for the role.

“Jude Law, whose beauty has sometimes been held against him as an actor, made the courageous decision to accept the role of Minx—a ‘celebrity super-model’—and took on a kind of hyper-beauty for this persona…a ‘female’ beauty which gradually unravels as the story unfolds,” Potter wrote.

Law is currently playing the part of the mustachioed Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes, opposite Robert Downey Jr.‘s master detective.

It must have been a relief to be able to grow facial hair again.
