Justin Timberlake and T.I. Are Shooting for a Hit

Feb 6, 2009 at 1:00pm

William Rast designer Justin Timberlake, 27, and hip-hop artist T.I. are working together again.

The two shot a video for “Dead And Gone,” a single off T.I.’s Paper Trail album, in Lancaster, California, yesterday. Golf aficionado JT produced and performs on the track with the rapper.

Undeterred by the unusually heavy (for Southern California, anyway) rain, the pals made with the lip-synching for the cameras.

The duo won a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the track “My Love” off Timberlake’s 2006 album, FutureSex/LoveSounds.

T.I.’s song is about his former assistant, who was killed in a shooting after a concert in 2006. The assailant is currently serving 66 years in prison.

As for working with JT again, T.I. (born Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) says they have differences that end up working well together, according to MTV.

“I learned how to cater to a different audience,” he said. “To stay on a different demographic’s mind. What Justin does, I don’t do the same way as him, but I can accomplish the same things using a different approach. He showed me that I can do just that on ‘My Love.’”

The two will also reportedly perform “Dead and Gone” during this Sunday’s Grammy Awards.

Smells like another hit. And T.I. could use a little god news right now; the rapper is scheduled to begin a one-year jail sentence in March after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges.
