Kanye West is really taking that whole "voice of my generation" thing seriously.

The always loquacious rapper and Stephen Colbert arch-nemesis took time out from promoting his new album, 808s and Heartbreak, to sing the praises of another performer: newly minted 27-year-old Britney Spears.

Calling out the elitism of music fans who look down on commercially successful music as "necessarily bullsh*t," the 31-year-old opined to Australia's Sydney Morning Herald: "Look at all those indie guitar bands who look down on pop music. My question to them is: 'Do you not want a song of yours to explode and be heard by everyone?' Look at Britney Spears and how people talk about her...if you don't like Britney Spears, then you're just wrong."

Well, duh, Kanye; who didn't know that? You're a little late to the game on that observation, aren't you?

Then again, punctuality isn't necessarily your strong point.
