Kanye West: Ready to Inherit the Sequined Glove?
Is Kanye West ready to snatch the King of Pop mantle from deceased singer Michael Jackson?
If a recent report is to be believed—and that's a massive "if"—it is so.
Ace Showbiz claims that the 808s & Heartbreak rapper took to something called Scrape TV to lay claim to Jackson's legacy in his usual humble manner.
"You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change," West supposedly said. "It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I'm willing to take that on."
So why does West reportedly think he's worthy of the task?
"There's nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new King." The rapper then added, "First there was Elvis [Presley], then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it's Kanye's time to rule."
The report goes on to claim that West has reached out to the Jackson family for their blessing, but has so far not heard back.
Hmm. Kanye has never suffered from an ego deficiency, but this seems a bit much.
Readers, let us know in the comments section: Do you think Kanye West really wants to inherit the King of Pop title from Michael Jackson? And if he doesn't deserve the King of Pop title, who does?

Kanye West is an egotistical little prick.
NO ONE will EVER replace Michael Jackson. He was the best - at Everything.
He danced, sand, wrote almost all of his song and danced like he did without lip singing ever.
Now Kanye, seriously - step down. You digitally master your songs and I havent seen a dance move out of you since the Gold Digger video when you shrugged your shoulders to the beat...
I think that that pretty much says it all....
And before you start talking about being the "New King" why don't you let us finish grieving and perhaps let Michael be buried and put to rest. Wow you are so c*cky, it really is gross.
No one will replace the original KING - Elvis Presley. He was the whole package - he had the talent, the looks, the voice, the name, the stage act, the charisma, the moves, could act when given the chance and was extremely humble to go with it which is more than can be said of Michael Jackson or Kanye West.. Elvis could, and did, sing in virtually every musical genre available to him whereas Jackson and West are extremely limited to a couple. Of course, Elvis was more than just an entertainer but quite an historical figure. He was the one who broke down social and cultural barriers in 1950's U.S.A. making it easier for all artists who followed in his footsteps including Jackson and West. Elvis paved the way for Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's. We will never see the like of Elvis again - he was truly 'sui generis'.
ew
Kanye did not say these things Scrape TV where this interview was said to have taken place is a satirical news site. Kanye never did an interview with them all those quotes are made up as part of there joke. Way to jump all over somebody before you have all the facts.
NO ONE CAN EVER REPLACE MICHAEL!!!!!!!!! I love Kanye and all, but Michael was the man to see for dancing skills and music. I haven't even see Kanye dance! But overall even though Michael has gone to be with our saviour, he will ALWAYS be the King Of Pop!
It seems like he's not saying that he's going to replace Michael Jackson, just become the 21st century version of him.
ummm i don't think knaye made those comments...I would question scapetv's credibility. This is exactly the kind of BS Michael Jackson constantly talked about that made is life hell while he was here. Further more to the poster that says "Elvis paved the way for Dr. Martin Luther King in the 1960's" I am not sure I can follow that. I think Elvis had that "presence" that we see in extraodinary people that grace this earth, but I am not sure how there is a practical connection with him and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
no one can ever replace MICHAEL JACKSON he is and will always remain the KING of everything and as for elvis presley he was the so called king of rock but MICHAEL was the best and will always remain the topic is kanya west and MICHAEL JACKSON not elvis presley he is old HISTORY MICHAEL's music touched people of all ages and still does today NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS he will always be the best HE IS THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER IN THE WORLD, MICHAELS music had meaning and love sorry kanya but theres a long way for you to go to be named anything as far as i am concrened and sorry for you to elvis i hope brain quinn reads this comment because MICHAEL is the true KING ALL HAIL THE KING MICHAEL JACKSON!!!!!!!!!!!
The true KING is Jesus Christ, not Michael Jackson.
Nice try Kayne..... Your record sales just dropped due to having no respect. If you can not show any respect how do you think your going to succeed in this world. What have you done as a humanitarian? Nothing that I can recall. To become the King you need to give back and not just take for yourself. No one in the music industry is willing to do what Michael had done for the under privilage. Michael gave back and not just in his own country but all over the world. Kayne are you known in all parts of the world? I think not !!!!!
Not to bash Kayne but get real HE WILL NEVER STAND A CHANCE AS BEING THE KING. The King is not disrespectful. The King is respectful, honest, willing to help others and is full of love.
I would not allow my daughter to go to any of Kayne's concerts. At least Michael was clean fun for all ages.
Kayne you need to grow up a little because you surely did not learn a thing from Michael while he was walking this world because you lack respect.
MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE KING AND THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ANOTHER ONE!!!!! Sorry Kayne.
RIP MICHAEL aka "KING OF POP"
