Kate Gosselin Speaks Out About Alleged Affair

After a scandalous cover story in Us Weekly, in which Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad Jon Gosselin was accused of cheating on wife Kate with 23-year-old school teacher Deanna Hummel, Kate is finally speaking out about the alleged affair.

On Thursday's Today show, she said that, despite the on-the-record statements, video, and pictures, "I'm very hesitant to believe any of it. It goes with the territory."

The mother of eight children (twins and sextuplets) told Today show host Meredith Vieira that she thinks the public should take the stories with "a grain of salt" since "people are being paid to talk."

She added, "We're dealing with it privately. It's kind of ironic since we do have a reality show and people see the good, the bad and the ugly. But there are those things we keep to ourselves, and we're working through it together, and that's the important thing."

Jon was actually supposed to appear alongside his wife, but gave babysitting duties as his excuse to cancel. Instead, they read a statement from the alleged philanderer.

"These allegations are false and just plain hurtful. As I adjust to the attention that comes from being in the public eye, I need to be more careful and aware of who I am associating with and where I am spending my time. But the bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate. I am sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgment I've made recently. I am working through this difficult time with my family. My family is my top priority."

What is she going to do now? Gosselin said, "We just need to weather this storm. Just like all the other storms we've been through."

"Our kids are centrally in our focus, they always have been. They are very much loved, very well cared for...that will be how it's going to be," she asserted.

i remember when us magazine was trying to make up stories about jon cheating on kate last year before this latest incident and i have to say i don't believe it one bit. i think that they paid some good money because they needed a story and didn't have anything else to report, because anyone who follows the news (serious/entertainment) news knows that it's been a bad time for tabloids and their stories/front page covers so it's a more imperative for them to get something good. well congrats to them, because they are wrecking this family and i hope that the gosselin's, their extended family, their friends all stay strong. as you will notice those CLOSEST to the family have not said anything to disparage jon gosselin or kate (even if she's mega headstrong), and it's nice to see that now that all the children are of reading age they can see, and hear, and read all of this and be introduced into the 21st century jaded life that we all life and accept so readily. anyone with half a brain knows this isn't true, so stop trying to feed the beast. also you will note that no decent male or a brother actually talks the way this so called homewreckers brother talks...even if they are truly evil. i think he needed the money and decided this was his way to do it. it's nice to see that he was the first one to volunteer said information so that everyone can say "OH IT REALLY HAPPENED," like anyone would truly believe anything this brother said...but then i forget it was reported in us weekly and we all know to believe everything we read in that magazine.

i agree with the first comment about how kate should not deny it , but i don't think she should forgive and forget. he broke their vows and there is no excuse for that!
