For a woman who tends to get around, Kate Hudson keeps it traditional when it comes to the holidays, preferring the comfort of her home base.

The oft-dated but currently single 29-year-old arrived at Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday afternoon, with four-year-old Ryder Russell Robinson wrapped around her torso. Ryder is Kate's son with her ex-husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson.

The mother and child arrived on a British Airwaves flight from London, where Hudson has been filming the romantic period piece Nine.

As well as a cinematic time capsule, Nine is a musical with a stellar ensemble cast including Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren and Fergie.

That gives Kate a lot of competition for the attention of male lead Daniel Day-Lewis.

But relax for the holiday, Ms. Hudson.  Enjoy the comforts of home and family! Hopefully you and Ryder both totally get stuffed tomorrow!
