Katherine Heigl Is Taking A Leave Of Absence

She has been for a while, and will be ditching the set of the hit TV show for at least 5-episodes while she films a new movie, the romantic comedy Life as We Know It.
An ABC rep confirmed to People, “Katherine is taking time off to film a movie. The producers at Grey’s have accommodated past things like that before. It’s a cast of 13 and it is a true ensemble so the show is mindful [of other commitments].”
The 30-year-old actress will leave the set this month until November, when her absence will ultimately be explained.
As for Ellen Pompeo, who is due to give birth to her first child in October, she’s expected to take maternity leave around the same time. The rep explains that the overlap is “all being worked out.”

It’s sucks that GA will be without Izzie, Meredith, and George (for atleast the first part). Atleast they’re going to explain Izzie’s absence since she gets fired (I guess just beating cancer has little pull with the people upstairs) but I heard they’re just going to stop writing scenes for Meredith till she comes back.
