Katie Holmes is rarely described as anything less than accommodating. Look at how she showered Tom Cruise's ex-wife Nicole Kidman with baby gifts when the Oscar-winning Aussie was expecting her first baby! And see how friendly she's being here, during a visit with the FDNY.

But even Katie has only so much patience. The Mad Money actress has wearied of the communal-style living with her in-laws at her newly-renovated Beverly Hills home.

Holmes has admitted, "We live with my sister-in-law, her two sons, my mother-in-law, and [Tom's] kids Isabella and Connor." In Touch is now reporting that Katie has asked the extended family to take a hike.

A source revealed to the mag, "Tom agreed things needed to be different. He assured her that they [the family] would not be moving in."

Good for Katie. She really is asserting her independence.
