Kelly Clarkson Is One Tough Boss (VIDEO)

Kelly Clarkson Is One Tough Boss (VIDEO)-photo

Warning: Do not mess with Kelly Clarkson. Especially if she's signing your paycheck.

The American Idol fave has never been one to reserve judgment, and that clearly extends to her band members, as evidenced by this newly unearthed video from a 2005 performance, during which she fired her guitar player, Dwayne Larring, after he apparently made a rude gesture to the audience. Which Clarkson clearly wasn't having any of.

Check out how Clarkson cans him, mid-song, without missing a beat, and even incorporates the sacking into the lyrics.

And then Clarkson gets really mean, delivering a spiel about Larring to the audience before dedicating "Breakaway" to his newly unemployed behind.

Wow. Donald Trump clearly has nothing on this chick.

So let me get this correct...you posted this video to show what a "B" Kelly Clarkson is? Man, did you ever mess up...what I see is a woman, who knows who is buttering her bread and wants to keep it that way...If I had been in her position I would have done the same thing...You don't need some over zealous guitarist making rude gestures at your audience...which could have kids in it since my niece has been to a couple of her shows and she is only 12. I wouldn't take that from an emplyee of mine and she shouldn't have to either. You way off base here....Good job - Kelly

Any place you work there are causes for dismissal and IMMEDIATE TERMINATION. Whether the guitarist’s intention was malicious or not, that is very subjective. She based her decision on the action period! He gets paid whether she sales albums or not! Her public/fans are a vital part of her business plus she is the boss, she sets the standards (which I consider reasonable and obvious). If employees cannot keep up with the job then, they better leave! It is curious how some people are complaisant with his behavior, but they are so critical when Kelly calls his attention in front of the audience. If he had the guts to do whatever he did in public, well, he has to have the guts to face his mistake in public!

We really shouldn't be attacking the guitarist or Kelly. It's been what, 4 years, and I'm sure he regrets what he did and I'm sure she's mellowed since then. The true culprit is the poster of this viral video. -- In the poster's own words, she/he is clearly targeting a fan forum that he/she believes wronged him/her. It's a fight between those two sides, not between the guitarist and Kelly - who I'm sure have let bygones be bygones by now. Peace.

[quote=Dr. E]I have always been a fan of KC's music. Her behavior though, not so much. I know the guitarist personally and the "[apparent] rude gesture to the audience" is only an allegation. It is not his character to disrespect her in such a way. Bottom line, she made an awful assumption and acted on it. Big mistake on her part, but we are human and we all make mistakes so lets please move on. I have no doubt that he's a good guy because he's someone son and friend, and probably what he did (and I don't say allegedly, because apparently he did do something) was an aberration and he probably regrets it. However, you are also making a big assumption that she had no cause to do what she did. That being said, I completely agree that we should move on as I'm sure both of them have. I would like to point out, however, that the motives of the person, who posted this video should be questioned.

yay Kelly!! The guitar player was being an ass and if he was rude being to the fans and was flipping them off (as someone who was there said) then that's a reflection on Kelly and he had to go. I'm sure the crowd of fans appreciated her sticking up for them and letting them know that she would have none of his disdain for them. Plus, hopefully the guy learned his lesson. Maybe next time he will control himself and not disrespect his boss or the audience.

We don't know the circumstances of the firing -- maybe this was the last straw. Managers can't be pushovers . Being one who started out trying to be friends with her staff -- I know this first hand . To "Shocked by Kelly's behavior", I wouldn't be too quick to judge and so harsh. In show business, in particular, big egos and raunchy behavior is common and need to be bridled swiftly, otherwise, chaos ensues and quality plummets. Bravo to Kelly, who at her young age (23 or 24 at the time), seems to understand this. I also admire that she stanchly defends her fans. She shows a lot of character.

This is absolutely fantastic. People who act that way deserve to be treated the way she treated him. Maybe all you pussies who are whining about her behavior should have someone put you in your place just like she did to him.

I've been in the business for 25 years and it was handled very unprofessionally which could hinder Kelly's career even further airing it here in North America. Only fanatical fans of Kelly support this behavior which is actually making the situation worse

I didn't realize she was such a Jesus freak. Finally it all makes sense in terms of her success. It was fellow Jesus freaks that listened to her music.
