With American Idol's Season 8 premiere airing Tuesday, January 13, on Fox, what better time for the hit series' original winner to debut her brand new single?
Kelly Clarkson, 26, has sold over 20 million records worldwide since winning Season 1 of Idol in summer 2002.
And in two weeks, "My Life Would Suck Without You," the first single off Clarkson's upcoming fourth album, All I Ever Wanted, will be released.
The artwork for her new LP was unveiled on Kelly's official site yesterday (see the gallery). As well, a 30-second clip of "Suck" has surfaced online.
Listen here:
Clarkson notoriously clashed with label boss Clive Davis over her third album My December two years ago, which she insisted on having a larger hand in songwriting on.
The set only yielded one minor hit, "Never Again," and failed to sell more than 800,000 copies.
For "My Life Would Suck Without You," however, Kelly returned to writer/producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, who crafted her Grammy-winning 2004 single "Since U Been Gone" and its follow-up "Behind These Hazel Eyes."
Martin and Luke are the midas-touch pop maestros who, between the two of them, have scored hits with Britney Spears ("...Baby One More Time", "Circus"), Avril Lavigne ("Girlfriend"), Backstreet Boys ("I Want It That Way") and Katy Perry ("I Kissed A Girl" and "Hot N Cold").
Clarkson's album All I Ever Wanted drops March 17.

It's amazing but it really doesn't sound like SUBG all that much to me.
It's like a not-raunchy "I Kissed A Girl"--a good thing, considering how catchy that was. This could be the first non-immidiately post show #1 single from an idol!
BTW, its released digitally on Amazon in less than a week (the 16th)
I love the song and can't wait for the album.
On you poll I chose the "It's awesome" chose because the song is awesome, not because it sounds like SUBG because it doesn't in the least sound like it.
I can't wait to hear the whole thing!!! It sounds awesome!!! I love Kelly! I honestly think that no other Idol comes close to her!
I just heard the single on Napster and I am very disappointed! I absolutely love Kelly and have been a loyal fan since the first season of American Idol. I was so proud of her for breaking away from from what was expected of her and following her own heart on My December! I thought it rocked! My husband even turned into a Kelly Clarkson fan... This song is just plain sad. Money talks...and it made her a sellout. I don't blame her- I blame the critics and everyone who believes that conformity is better than being yourself and following your heart. Be yourself!
it doesnt sound like SUBG in my opinion, it sounds a lot better.
